The chat widget
The assistant appears on your storefront as a chat widget. It's delivered through a Shopify theme app-embed, so you stay in full control of whether it shows — right from your theme editor.
Enable the widget in your theme
- Open the theme editorIn the Sellena app, open the Chat widget card and click Enable in theme editor. (Or in Shopify admin go to Online Store → Themes → Customize.)
- Turn on the Sellena app embedIn the theme editor, open App embeds in the left sidebar and toggle Sellena on.
- SaveClick Save. The widget appears on your live storefront within a moment.
Why a theme app-embed?
App embeds are the Shopify-recommended way to add a widget. They don't modify your theme code, they load without slowing your store, and you can switch them off any time without uninstalling the app.
Customize placement
Any appearance options Sellena exposes live in the theme editor alongside the toggle: open App embeds → Sellena and adjust the available settings, then Save. Because it's a theme embed, changes preview live in the editor before you publish.
What keeps the widget live
The widget shows on your storefront when all of these are true:
- The Sellena app embed is enabled in your active theme.
- Your plan is active (billing approved, if billing is on).
- You're within your plan's conversation allowance for the period.
One switch in Shopify
Sellena keeps a Shopify entitlement flag in sync with your billing, so Shopify itself shows or hides the embed toggle based on whether your plan is active. If the toggle looks unavailable, it usually means billing needs approving first — see Billing & plans.
